Hi sisterx
I understand that void you feel. I stopped going to the meetings a couple of months ago. I was so disillusioned with religion and angry I felt like my life had become spiritually empty.
But I have discovered that real faith has nothing to do with churches. It is about you and your relationship with God. I am still trying to decide what I really believe. Maybe I will never be sure. But I still feel passionate about my love for God. It is lovely if you can share your faith with other people and worship together. But it is not essential. Maybe you could try some other churches and see how you feel. You might like one.
I think the fellowship/friendship thing is a different issue. That does not have to be about joining a church, that could be with any group, hobby or interest that you share with similarly minded people. Maybe even studying or doing a course might get you involved with people you might not normally meet.
Good luck with your journey of self discovery. Personally I know there is no way I could stomach sitting through another meeting after all the things I have discovered. I certainly wouldn't enjoy it.

Mouthy What a bargain!!! I could do with some of that for my veges. I've got a couple of goats and some chooks and they provide plenty of pooop. But I might have to wander down to the end of the road for some horsey poo. It does wonders for the brocolli

Fun times huh? Those good old days. Hell no! I'd rather be where I am now. At least I'm not making such an ass of myself (although I suppose thats debateable).
My partner is a recovering alcoholic, been sober nearly 2 years. So I don't do much drinking now a days. He has no opinion either way if I want to. But I don't very often now. I'm not one for drinking on my own.
I still reakon we should look at plastic wine bottles for Chch though. We could call them Skippy bottles...whatta you think?

Is life a black comedy?
by Joey Jo-Jo induring the normal working day routine something occured to me that has been in the back of my mind for some time.. during bible times, scriptures dont appear to have a sense of humour, i believe its because life was (and his) serious, they were very dependent on what they made and ate, life must have been tuff, no diswashers, no cars, no gas or electricity etc.. fast forward to today, we work for the rest of our lifes but confort standards have increased, we have a huge selection of foods and entertainment, we go home to spend time with our loved ones, watch tv not realising in our own little way we have been condition to think during these years, that we dont think about tommorrow-death, we can suffer from some disease, the animals we eat suffered for our pleasure of eating meat, still in our time people die from starvation, natural disasters, crimes and war.. reality bites, dont know who said that but its very true.. and while my dad prays before dinner for god to help all brothers, "brothers" suffer, die, and others still die of starvation.
if i was ever going to reconcile the bible with reality, the same question that turned bart ehrman into an agnostic "why does god permit suffering" the most logical conclusion (and while faulty)i can come up with is that god is impartial, as it says it rains on both the good and the bad.
since the bible is faulty i could go one step further and say by what i see around, that while the creation of life (plants, animals etc) are intelligent, what or who ever created us either forgot about us or does not us to know, or does not want us to understand at this time.. when watching the royal wedding, watching the priests and royalty, i wonder how much blood and sacrifice went into all that gold and monarchy wealth.

Of course people would have had a sense of humour. Maybe just their writers had very little.....too smart for their own good maybe.
